Creative Foam Solutions that Give You Options

At Protex, we take a collaborative, customer-centric approach to design.

You can have as much or as little input in your design as you’d like. Our goal is to give you all of the information you need to make an informed decision about how we can best design a foam solution that solves your problem and meets all of your unique needs. We have years of experience working with a wide variety of clients in a diverse collection of industries, and can guide you through the different foam types, densities, colors, production techniques, and the market of available protective cases (if necessary). A handful of our clients know exactly what they want. In these circumstances we can execute your requirements as desired, whether it be from dimensional CAD drawings or industry standard 3D files.

The Right Foam for Every Application

Not all foams are created equally. At Protex, we use only high quality closed-cell, cross-linked polyethylene foams which we champion for their durability, aesthetic quality, and non-reactive properties. Among this category of foams there are many different sub-types with various densities and special properties. The three main types of cross-linked polyethylene foam that we use are:

ZOTEFOAMS

Zotefoams are the highest quality cross-linked polyethylene foams we offer and are preferred by our aerospace and aviation customers because of their excellent resistance to chemicals, oils, and solvents. Because of the cellular structure of the foam, it does not break down into particles or dust over time with use. Zotefoams use a special nitrogen blowing agent during the manufacturing process which eliminates off-gassing of the foam. Available in several densities and colors, Zotefoams are a specialty option for customers seeking the highest level of performance in demanding environments. You can read more about the technical specifications of Zotefoams in their technical data sheet.

CROSS-LINKED XP & XPL (XP LAMINATE)

Cross-linked XP is our most widely used foam because of its versatility and value. It is an affordable option for most of our customers, delivers more than adequate durability, and it is available in many standard colors and densities. XPL (XP Laminate) is our two-color laminated version of XP, on which we laminate a 1/4” layer of Zotefoam. The Zotefoam top layer adds an additional degree of durability and resistance to spills and scuffs. Read more about cross-linked XP in their technical data sheet.

ELECTROSTATIC DISCHARGE (ESD)

ESD foam includes conductive additives to prevent static build up and is critical for protecting sensitive electronic equipment such as circuit boards, computer parts, and electrical components. For technical specifications please see our ESD technical data sheet.

MIX & MATCH

We commonly mix and match foam types and densities to achieve performance requirements, such as layering higher density foam underneath regular density foam to support very heavy items.
